THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY

Criticism from a friend is beter than flattery from an enemy.

It isn't necessary to put a marker at the grave when we forgive and bury the hatchet.

"My best friend is one who brings out the best in me."
Henry Ford

The future is history to God, for He is omnicient.

MEDICINE FOR THE SOUL

Some families can trace their ancestry back three hundred years but can't tell you where the children were last night.

Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them quite so much.

"You can give without loving, but you cannot love without giving."  Amy Carmichael

 Illumination

“Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, ‘I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.’”
John 8:12

Light is “something that makes vision possible.” We have flashlights, nightlights, and porch lights to provide vision so we do not stumble in the darkness. Light also exposes danger. Vehicles have headlights and taillights that show they are approaching or stopping. We have streetlights to help us see where we are going after dark. There are traffic lights to keep us safe at highway intersections. Fire and police vehicles have flashing lights to alert us to an emergency. God created the sun and moon to provide light for us by day and night.

The sun is the light of our physical life. The Son, Jesus Christ, is the light of our spiritual life. Christ makes spiritual vision possible. Just as a flashlight keeps us from stumbling over dangers along our path, Christ keeps us from stumbling over sin along our path. Just as headlights keep us on the right physical road, Christ will keep us on the right spiritual road. The Light of the world will keep our path illuminated so we do not wander or stumble.

Lord Jesus, thank You for bringing light and life to a world stumbling in the darkness.

Ask God to help you stay on the right path by illuminating your way with the light of His Son.
